The National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) works to ensure that the U.S. pork industry remains a consistent and responsible supplier to domestic and international markets and protects the livelihood of America’s 60,000 pork producers. Through public-policy outreach, NPPC fights for reasonable legislation and regulations and develops revenue and market opportunities.
The pork industry has grown and consolidated rapidly in recent years. To address this changing business environment and related policy-focused needs, NPPC leadership wanted to revisit the association’s direction and align stakeholders around an agreed set of core focus areas through a comprehensive strategic planning process.
With a task force of pork industry leaders, MYB facilitated strategic planning over the course of six months, culminating in an actionable plan with five strategic goals and a re-imagined mission statement. Research included extensive interviews with pork producers, packers and allied industry suppliers. A survey of members received over 500 responses, well surpassing the board’s expectations.
The vision that emerged from this process was rooted in sustainability and global growth for the industry. NPPC stakeholders are now united around fresh goals for advocacy, industry alignment, coalition building and improved organizational effectiveness. To help NPPC lead an effort to unite the broader U.S. pork industry, they asked MYB to provide additional strategic consulting and facilitation.
